How much is the difference in performance inserting an AM2 processor to and AM2 mobo compared to AM2 mobo

Q: Im planning to upgrade to an AM2 processor(AMD Phenom), but I have an AM2 socket motherboard. It currently have an AMD x2 6000 . how much would be the difference in performance if the AM2 processor would be inserted in an AM2 mother board, compared to that AM2 processor be inserted in an AM2 motherboard?

A: Quad Phenom will only work if it is supported by your motherboard. Sometimes just a BIOS upgrade could enable support for Phenom. For gaming, the fast clocked X2 6000+ is still a decent performer. It may be worthwhile to spend for a graphics card upgrade rather than a processor upgrade. You will gain more FPS for your bucks. http://www.techreport.com/articles.x/14756/5
