upgrade RAM on old pc?

Q: have an old pc laying around at home, though i recently installed xp home, it made it even slower, it currently has 64mb ram (pc100), but due to the limitations of the mother board i can only upgrade it to maximum of 512mb, i all ready saw a ram that i like (512 mb) and its (pc133), will it work, as i heard its backward comfortable with (pc100) here my Mother board specs: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=1507

A: Hi. Yase K. How are you. Of course you are going to feel a performance decreasement. You are working with half of the minimum memory requirements to work with XP Home. Minimun(though Microsoft says it is 64MB) it should be 128MB. And you would experiment limitations with this memory though. I've seen you have in mind a 512MB memory and it's PC133. Seen the specs from your motherbord and it's not going to support that memory. You mother supports PC100 memory cards. So you may buy two 256MB PC100 memory cards and you'll be fine... The mother is still nice and can be used really well within a user interface. Just got to get the right things and you are done. Keep going. I've seen the other users comments. Sometimes, when you add the memory card that is faster than the established speed, the mother downclocks the memory speeds and it works anyway. But sometimes, the computer just won't boot and there's when you may experiment some trouble.
