Q: Ok so i am currently thinking about building my own computer. This will be my first time attempting to do so. Right Now i have these components picked out: Processor:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116027 MotherBoard:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138079 RAM:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820141429 Graphics Card:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150247 I was just wondering if i could salvage these parts from my computer and have them work in the new system: CD Drive:PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111C Hard Drive:MAXTOR 6L080L4ATA interface I am also wondering if i need a sound card. Any help is greatly appreciated.
A: Yes you can use those drives on the new motherboard, it has 2 pata ide channels so will support upto four pata devices (pata is the old standard) although you would get better hard disc performance if you bought a sata drive. You don't need a sound card as that motherboard has onboard sound. WARNING that is the wrong sort of ram for the motherboard, it''s DDR the board you linked to only supports DDR2.
