virtual memory for all partitions?

Q: Currently, only my C drive has virtual memory. I have 1 GB RAM at 667 MHz. And my video card is 256 MB. MY C Drive virtual memory is min-1600 MB and max 3200 MB ( it was slightly lower and i upped it a bit). It says the total size available on C for for paging is 41,457 MB. What about paging files for other partitions? I have 3 others. If I set the partitions to 'system managed' for those, will i note any increase in speed? Also would you recommend me to further increase the paging file of my C drive? By default it was around 1400 odd for min.

A: You seem to be a little confused about what virtual memory is and how it works. When a computer operating system such as Windows runs out of physical memory (RAM) to work with, it starts "swapping out" areas of memory to disk. The space on a disk drive that's defined for the operating system to "swap out" to is typically called "virtual memory". Due to the fact that reading from disk is much, much slower than reading from memory you ideally want to avoid using virtual memory. However, that's not always possible, so it's a good idea to have your virtual memory settings set as efficiently as possible so that if your computer needs to use it, at least it's going to be as fast as you can make it. If you're not sure what you're doing, you can stick with letting Windows decide the best settings, but if you want to learn check the site linked in the source, it'll help you to squeeze a little more performance out.
