i upgraded the RAM on my computer?

Q: i upgraded from a 512MB ram to a 2GB ram and i see no difference. is there something wrong? i thought the performance of my computer was supposed to improve...

A: You can check to see if you installed your RAM correctly by opening any Windows folder (like My Documents). Navigate to the 'Help' Tab at the top and mouse down to 'About Windows'. Click once to open -- a dialogue will pop up -- at the bottom it will say 'Physical memory available to Windows: x, xxx, xxx KB'. If your installation worked, the number should be around 2,000,000 kb, or 2,500,000 kb if you installed your RAM in a second port. If the number is different, it means your RAM isn't installed correctly. Try again and make sure that the card fits snugly by inserting it at a 30 degree angle. It should pretty much 'click' into place. RAM generally will help your computer run faster, but if you have a lot of programs going or a slow processor, your machine can still be sluggish. Try opening the windows task manager (press control+alt+del ONCE) and looking at your processes to see which ones are eating up the most memory.
