Q: i wont to buy one new pc and i wont to use the ATI radeon HD 3870 x2 ( not two 3870 on crossfire but the 3870 x2) But i dont know what is best one Intel dual 2 core wich high clock lets say 3.0 to 3.5 or one quad wich 2.66 of clock ? i know that this is a very ask question that many desagry but i wanna to THE GRAFIC CARD i will use not just the performense of them by them self becase inst on crossfire but still are two grafics card and that demandes more from cpu soo my question is like the 3870 x2 uses more from cpu would i be beter wich the 4 cores from quad or still the dual wich high clock would be nice or the 4 cores of the quad will realy show off because they are two cards? ps i will also buy 4x 4gb (16gb) of ram is that mathers for any thing
A: Yeah these two guys are thinking what i was thinking lol i have a q6600 2.4 quad, because i don't just do gaming if you are using it for gaming then it would be much better to have a 3.0Ghz duo because games will only use 1 or 2 cores. the way games are made at the moment, they don't use all 4 cores, only one or two. I think there are some that will use 3 or 4 but not very many. how do u mean the card is more demanding on the cpu? the gpu(s) will take weight off of the processor by doing calculations that would otherwise be left for the processor to handle. p.s. what is the 16gb of ram 4? if you aren't running a 64bit operating system then it will only use 3gb or if you are using 64 bit os you will have to download 64bit drivers for everything. i think a dual 3.0 would show off the gfx card more than a 2.4 quad
