Q: I have a brand new hard drive to go in my barebones computer, do I need another OS on top of my windows XP prof. Office? I say as long as as I have my Windows XP Office I dont need another OS to go with my Windows XP.
A: Without an OS you will not be able to use your computer at all. An OS basically works by being the middle man between the software you use on your computer and the Hardware it uses to do its Job. IE. Printing. Your OS tells your HP software that came with your printer to send a signal to your motherboard saying hey, I got traffic going out through the USB port to the printer. Without it, your software cant do Jack! Hell, your computer wont boot! Get one........2k, XP, Vista, Linux, Mac whatever. Just get one
