Q: I'm looking to upgrade my my current PC , and hence would like a little guidance please. I'm an Architect , and use programs like 3d Max, Autocad , and Photoshop. I have a limited budget , so need a performance PC with no frills at a good price.What specs would you recommend.Also would you recommend an AMD or an Intel CPU for this heavy graphics oriented PC I require? I have zeroed in on a few things so let me know what you think. Graphics card : XFX 8600 GT CPU : Intel Core2 Duo. / Quad Core / AMD Phenom 8550 ? A: 3d Max n quite a few modeling apps are mult-core enabled ,so more cores the better. i have a Q6600 n use it for rendering in XSI and its damn quick compared to my old P4 pc. the phenom is has less grunt than the budget Q6600, so id get the intel. i'd also look into getting the Quadro instead of a Geforce as Geforce are desinged for games, n Quadro's for modeling. Though a geforce wil still run it pretty smoothly, and has a bonus of bieng able to use your machine for play aswell.
