Q: I just saw an Ad on Apple.com, that said "New Core 2 Duo 2.6GHz Processors". Then it said Macbook Pro-Starting at $1999. I have a PC, and I have a Core 2 Quad, and it is under $1000, for the whole computer, and the rest of the computer is nicer than the rest of the Mac. Core 2 Duo CPU's have been out since '06, You can get a PC with the same exact system specs, and a nicer screen for half the price, why go with Mac? And don't say "because they can't get viruses" I can download a program that will rid my computer of viruses for FREE. So why go with Mac?
A: Okay there are a few reasons why some people prefer Macs besides the one you listed. One is that its the only way to get the Mac OS so if your someone who hates Windows its worth it. Two, because all Macs are meant for the Mac OS you get an extremely smooth user experience, you don't get crashes or slow downs like windows users can. Three, there is also a bit of a "Cool" factor where having a mac is a "Hip" thing. Four, every mac also comes bundled with a lot of free software, that are some very good programs, if you were to try to buy similar software for a pc it could cost an extra $500. Five, some people have the money so they don't care how they spend it. However, I must say I am not a mac person, I am like you and love to have the best hardware as possible for the cheapest price possible, and since I am a gamer, I really can't even get a mac without trying to get a dual boot system with windows on it. But then as you have said I would be over-paying for it.
