Q: Here's what I came up with, it will not be used for gaming: CPU-Core 2 Quad Q6600-$200 RAM-4GB DDR2 800MHz-$66.50 MoBo-P5K P45 Motherboard-$130 GPU-Radeon HD 3870-$90 HDD-8GB Solid State Disk (to install on the operating system)-$100 HDD 2-150GB Velociraptor 10K RPM-$150 Case-Cooler Master w/550W power supply -$150 Windows Vista 64 bit (faster than xp)-$100 ODD-$20 Grand Total is around $1020. I got a Solid State Disk, for speed, a raptor for storage which is still very very fast, I got a Quad-Core CPU, 4GB of RAM, a P45 motherboard, Windows Premium 64 bit. All prices are from www.newegg.com. And if something is slightly off, it's because I did very slight rounding (i.e. if something is $98 I would call it $100). But yeah, all are from newegg.com. And I have a total of 158GB. Trust me, Vista does not take up 40GB of your hard disk. It's not really that great of a deal. I don't understand why they would have a $130 graphics card, a $130 processor, and a $350 motherboard, it doesn't make any sense.
A: where exactaly are you getting your prices from??? the cheapest I have seen a velociraptor is $285... 200 for the q6600 is about right is the RAM compatible with the mobo??? P5K run between $85 and $170 average is $100 you cant install XP on an 8gig disk let alone Vista. vista uses 40gig MINIMUM. $150 for a 550W coolermaster is WAY over priced. the cheapest I have found Vista home BASIC is $120 and thats for 32bit. are these actual prices or an estimation????
