Q: i am trying to print something off of my laptop but when i try to connect my printer i get an error that says "power surge on USB hub port" or my computer ont even recognize that the cord is plugged in. i just got back to school and i am using the same printer and cords and laptop that i used last year and i never had this problem last year. i have reset the hub port like it said to but that didn't do anything. please help me!!! my usb is plugged directly in to the laptop
A: Use a powered hub or connect the cable directly to the laptop. I had this kind of problem with a hub working fine on one laptop and giving a power surge (with a SD card reader) on the other. Another approach: connect the hub to the laptop. Switch on the printer and connect it to the hub. If that doesn't work, try it the other way round, it may work.
