Q: I recently purchased(like maybe 3 days ago) a sapphire radeon 3650 512 meg ddr2 graphics card from newegg.com and i was on gametrailers.com and I attempted to watch "The Witcher" gameplay to see if I wanted to purchase the game after hearing good things about it and while it was being buffered I wanted to see how well the card did playback of hd content so i tried to start the video when it was at 50% buffered and I got a pink screen with very tiny lines going horizontal and then I got a green/pink screen and then a blue screen and I wanted to know if maybe I got a faulty card or what? I am using a 17 inch crt compaq monitor. I am going to be very upset if the card is faulty because it is my first purcahse from newegg and friends never have problems with them but I dont wana send it back because it plays call of duty at max resolution with everything turned up at around 30 frames very nicely and i really like it seeing as how its my first card from the integrated ati xpress200 that came with the computer when I bought it. The drivers for everything came off the cd I got from newegg. it plays everyhting perfect in standard definition but nothing in hd and I kinda got the card to play videos in hd. I have installed the codec 3 times. how do I install codec that I downloaded off the site?
A: Now I will tell you, because I own a 3870 and a 4870 that ATI has came out this past week with 8.8 drivers. You really need to go to the AMD website and dowload the 8.8 drivers, uninstall your current drivers and reload you the 8.8... All cards from ATI gets drivers listed on the same day, when they update their driver base, but they are specific to your card. Neither of my cards have had any problems out of the 8.8 drivers if that is any help... If those drivers do not work, you can call Sapphire and see what the techs think... I will say I bought a AGP BFG tech 7300GT last year for my old computer and RMA'd the card 3 differant times for having lime green background and pink human figures on windows media player. BFG told me I had bad cards... Also check in Catylist Control Center and make sure your card is running under 50C just look under ATI OVERDRIVE and it will show your temps... If it is running hot, ask the techs at Sapphire how to bring the fan speed up on their cards...
