Q: If so, will the quality be affected or will something be 'missing' in the recording because it has only been able to pick up from one side? Sorry if this is unclear... here is what I mean about the double ended jack: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cable-Double-Jack-6-3mm-1-4-Audio-Signal-Lead-3M_W0QQitemZ190244339531QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item190244339531&_trkparms=72%3A984%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 Thanks in advance for any help. I am using it to go from a keyboard (one port) to an interface (2 ports) I think you only use two ports on the interface if you want stereo sound???
A: OK, what are you using the cable for (going from what equipment to what equipment)? If the output source only has one port (socket) and the input (recording destination) has only one socket then you could *but* only if BOTH are mono ports. If they're stereo ports then you'll need a cable that has tip/ring/sleeve on each end instead of just tip/sleeve: tip ring sleeve: http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop_image/product/7b5bb74867fd7dc212d6ed42aae346d3.jpg tip ring: http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop_image/product/5c1a742f60f6192d65f719ca498638ac.jpg EDIT: Yup, if that's what you're using it for then it'll work fine, as long as you use the same colour for both ends (ie: only the red lead or only the white, not one from each)
