A: That's right, you cannot directly connect a TV/cable input to your TV without a tuner card. However, with a tuner box (such as the a cable box or those $40 rebate Converter boxes) can output to your computer or even to the monitor. But, your video card or monitor must have input capabilities to handle the incoming analog signal and the stereo audio. My converter box connects directly to my video card via the yellow-red-white connectors for audio and video. And I can use the remote to change channels from the box.
