DDR1 RAM problem. Help?

Q: My brother bought some DDR1 ram in order to better play Hellgate. He currently had 2 512MB sticks of DDR1 ram and wanted to add 2 more sticks of 1GB ram (his motherboard supports up to four RAM slots). The two RAM pairs are almost the same; same company, almost the same model with the same heat shields. The only difference we see is that one is 2-2-2-5 and the new one is 2-3-2-5. We tried doing something in the BIOS, or rather he tried, but we couldn't figure anything out. Any suggestions?

A: Either they work or they do not. It could be his board does not support more than 2 GB.
