Q: i installed 2x512mb of rams, one is pc2100 and the other pc 3200, could this be the problem? thanks and my internet keeps getting errors? any ideas? thanks
A: hi luke my previous pc had a similar memory configuration,i had 2 x pc2100 modules and a single pc3200 module and allthough i suffered the normal everyday problems i dont think they were memory related try moving the pc3200 module and fit it into dimm1 and then the other pc2100 module into the dimm2 slot,its allways best to put the faster of the two modules in the first dimm slot you should however be able to mix ddr speeds without any problems,however the problem may be timings or even a bios memory problem go into setup(press delete at boot) and then to advanced chipset features,then make sure the memory needs to set at "by spd" any other needs to be changed to spd as for the internet problems these will not be related to your memory problems,i have had several problems with internet explorer 7 and your best solution is use firefox for a few days and see if the problems stop the main problem with i.e7 is its full of bugs,and everytime microsoft patch the problems another pops up,thats why users have started using firefox and opera among others also check the internal cabling and wiring inside your pc case,and pay special attention to any ide cables,i had a freezing problem a few years ago and after a lengthy diagnosis it turned out to be a damaged ide cable(split) and after a quick and inexpensive replacement the freezing stopped any problems let me know good luck luke !
