Can I get a Virus In My External Hard Drive?

Q: I was wondering is that is possible, which I think it is since my downloads go straight to my external disk intead of my drive C. Any advice on this? I have anti virus and I havn't gotten a virus in 3 years, when I used to get them all the time before. Especially now that I download torrents more often rather than just using limewire (which is also set to go straight to the ex. drive) I don't want to risk getting a virus on my ex. drive. Also if i get a virus on my drive C, will my ex. drive be safe. I just want to make sure al my files are safe on my external hard drive. thx. I use AVG Anti virus

A: If its possible to carry viruses in memory sticks then its also possible for your ext. hd to get infected also. I recommend you download Avira for free from avira.com. It works for me. I suggest you uninstall the AVG before installing Avira as they may mistake each other for viruses. Good luck!
