How do I install the heatsink for a Core 2 Duo E8500 on an ASUS P5Q Deluxe Board

Q: I've got pretty much everything installed, but for some reason the 4 pins that you push into the board to lock down the heatsink/fan on top of the cpu just won't stay in. If I lock 2 down on one side, the other 2 won't go in. If I unlock them, then I can lock the other side but cannot lock the side i'd just had locked. Is there a trick? Anyone had this problem? Had my bro come over, a computer tech. He declared the heatsink was trash, and I should invest in something better. So I bought a $16 ASUS Extremely Cool Cooler for it. Bolts on. Bro said it was "way better" after installing it. Just for the hell of it I looked the processor up on newegg and half the people listed the heatsink under "cons" as crap and said to buy another. So, if anyone else sees this post - just go buy another heatsink. Thanks for the posts though

A: Check to make sure that none of the pins are pushed down into the "sleeve" of the pin before you try to push them into the motherboard. If they are, pull them back up. Then, do opposite corners, not one side and then the other. And, though it's probably too late now, on your next build check to see if your heatsink works with this: http://www.jab-tech.com/Thermalright-LGA775-Bolt-Thru-Kit-pr-3605.html and get one if it does.
