i have a really bad graphics card and...

Q: could anybody tell me if i could download anything to give my graphic card a boost? or possibly download a whole new graphics card? nothing with pay please. i have a 2000 XP

A: Well, by now yiu must know that you can't download a new graphics card - you may be able to upgrade it though. Depending on what your graphics bus on your MoBo is (PCI, PCI express, AGP), you may be able to replace it with a "newer" (though not quite new) card. First, what card do you have. Check the mobo maker's website - they may have white papers describing what cards were tested on your mobo. Next, seach for your card on TomsHardware and see what available cards were better than yours. Then, go shopping - you may have to go to eBay, though for some components that's not a bad idea. I bought cards for my 1st two PC's on eBay and was happy with them. Liekly you'll have to go to eBay for a machine that old (2000?) Consdier 1st going to the card maker for updated drivers and downloading them. Remember to set a system restore point before you do that. Why do you need a new card? What card is it? It may be sad but you may have the best your system can do. In 2001, my XP machine was upgraded with a Geforce3, 64MB card. I wanted a Ti card, but I was happy enough w/any Geforce card and truth be told never regretted the purchase.
