Q: 9600 GT or 8800 GT? I already have 2 9600 GT's in SLI and was just curious cause ive heard all this hype about the 8800 GT I'm not looking to upgrade, just wanted to know if the decision i made was worth it. i paid about $120 for each of the gfx cards
A: 8800GT. The 9600GT is slower. It might also be cheaper, but now that the 4850/4870 has come out, the prices of the 8800 cards have been falling. The 9600GT is probably not cheaper enough to make it worth buying. Edit: Would you be buying two 8800GT's? Two 9600GT's are faster then just one 8800GT. Assuming you could sell both 9600s, you should/could get enough for one 8800GT. Another $125 or so, and you could have the other. I'm not sure the upgrade will be that noticable, but you should pick up some speed. Edit 2: I can't say whether it was worth it or not, I lack nearly all details. Without knowing what you paid for the 9600s, how much more the 8800s would have cost, what resolution you play at, what type of games you play, etc, I can't say whether you did good or not. Be happy with what you bought, there is always something better around the corner.
