A: Buy an ATI 4850 from one of the many manufacturers out there. It has 512mb of GDDR3 (stock) though some cards have been modified to be higher, or run at higher speeds. Check out Tom's Hardware, Anandtech, Bittech, [H], or any other hardware testing site and you'll see the performance gains. It's MSRP'd at $199, the same as a nvidia 9800GTX+, but it's better. In any case, in virtually all benchmarks the 4850 surpasses the nvidia 9800GTX and GTX+. But for your price range, if you must go Nvidia, get the 9800GTX+.
