Gaming Mice: Practical?

Q: I was amazed when my friend told me about "gaming mice", i mean, gaming keyboards i could understand, you know, buttons arranged around arrows in order of importance. But i looked at some pictures of gaming mice, and it just looks like a regular mouse, maybe colored and shaped in an unusual way. Am I wrong, or do they really somehow alter the way to click in a game?

A: I have a gaming mouse. The microsoft sidewinder ("24.99 from amazon.co.uk) is great for any game. For instance in games where you need to snipe down an enemy, moving the mouse a tiny bit can move your cursor miles off whereas with the sidewinder you can change the weight of the mouse so that you can execute small movements. You can also change the sensetivity of the mouse which changes the speed of the cursor. All gaming mice come with many buttons. Mine comes with 10 which can be programmed to make any command in a game. They do look very good and are definately worth it.
