Q: Hello im operations on windows xp i installed a different version of it and some how my d drive got switched w/ my c drive and i don't have nearly as much space on my original d drive as my c so i need to switch them bak and make it so when i install programs that they will save the the original c drive also if this can't be done or anything then how do u erase everything off of both of the drives i can just reinstall windows xp i have the cd and product key
A: you can NOT switch them while either is a running drive. You must now swap the one you want as C: to be primary master, the other will be a primary slave or secondary master or slave, depending how any other (cd/dvd) drives are set. You must set the jumpers on the drive correctly for this. You then need to do a full re-install, but when you are shown the existing partitions, use the D delete option to remove the C: drive. Then use the C create option to make anew partition to load on. After the install your can simply re-format the second drive.
