Q: I'm having a problem with space in my case. I'm thinking about buying a SATA to IDE adapter but if I don't have to, that'd be great. I notice when I plug my SATA cable from my HDD into the inputs in my motherboard, only the first one seems to work. The reason I want to fix this is because, in fact, I can insert the GPU comfortably if only I can use one of the inputs specifically. Any other will not work. Help? adapter costs 11 bucks... there's a mobo for that price? what kind of card are you talking about?
A: There are a few ways to find the error. Your BIOS on the mobo is your first start. Enter the BIOS setup and check the primary/secondary/tertiary/etc slaves and boot process. IMHO, SATA to IDE is a waste of a great connection. At the same cost, a PCI-E card with 4 eSATA ports is as cheap as the adapter. -Devin
