Q: Anyways, when I first got my graphics card, it worked well, playing Half life 2 and every other game I have on my computer. I then randomly decided to update my computer since it was way out of date.. So I did that then it's like "D3D acceleration error" or something like that. so i couldn't play ANYTHING at all. So, I downloaded service pack 2 trying to solve that problem from the small update I had, and it worked!. So i continued to update to service pack 3. Now the same problem "D3D accel error". My next thing to do was update my graphics card (reason I havn't because it didn't work when i first tried it.) So, I did so. And now, when I log onto half life 2, or any other game.. It gets to the game! (Gameplay, i'm standing there for a second ready to play) then the computer restarts. Epic fail. What is the problem?
A: sound like you got a virus in a download.i am up to date but i have service pack 2,dump the 3 and reload the service pack 2..also could be firewall blocking but it would have thrown a screen up saying keep blockig unblock always block..reinstall service pack 1 and give it a try..good luck with the game
