Would an External Sound Card disable my internal sound card?

Q: My headphone jack is broken, in turn my speakers don't work. Would an external USB sound card disable my internal and http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=USB+sound+card.&category0=make my speakers work? -

A: When you install the new sound card in the PCI slot you will have to go into the device manager first and disable to old sound card. Right click My Computer, choose Properties/Hardware/Device Mgr. Right click on the old sound card and choose to disable, install the new card and then when you restart the machine the Found New Hardware Wizard should start and install the drivers for it. If the disk is needed it will ask for it. From that point on your speakers and headphones will work as they always did but just from the new card. Personally, I'd stay away from the USB sound adapters. They are cheap in price and cheaply built too.
