Q: Well, before I asked if I would be able to play Crysis with these settings: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ (2.6Ghz) 1GB DDR2 1066 RAM Geforce 8200 Motherboard/GPU People told me I would have to play in 640x480 with lowest settings. Now I have my computer, and I played it at medium (1024x768) and got 12 fps average, then played at low (1024x768) and got 19 fps average. Now, I want to know if, when my 4GB of RAM shows up, if I will be able to play on high settings at a good framerate (around 25-30 at least). By the way, the way I'm playing it now, my GPU takes 256MB of my memory, so I really only have about 780MB of RAM right now. That's not even minimum requirements and it still ran ok. Also, how will Oblivion run once I get my RAM?
A: RAM isn't a big part of performance these days. The majority of Crysis is focused on the GPU, and in some cases, the CPU, after all, it's one of the few games that takes advantage of four cores. Yeah, giving your PC another Gig of RAM is needed, but it's not going to run Crysis at max details at blazingly fast frame rates. The 8800 GT can run Crysis pretty decently, and the price is going down, down, and down. ($150 last time I checked) Check Newegg.com or www.TigerDirect.com for it, and maybe you'll find it in a bundle with that other Gig of RAM. Good luck!
