Q: im trying to use dvd decrpytor but it keeps saying that device not ready medium not present. (from whut it sounds like its not finding the disc. Im using dvd-r how do i find out if it takes something different? thanks
A: The oldest format for DVD's is -R. AFAIK all DVD-RW drives will accept -R's. - Have you ever burned DVD's before? - Are you sure your drive is capable of burning DVD's? If you are unsure if your drive is capable of writing DVD's, you can check this in DEVICE MANAGER: - RIGHT click on MY COMPUTER - Choose MANAGE - Click on DEVICE MANAGER - Scroll down the alphabetical list to find your CD/DVD drive - Click the little PLUS SIGN in front of the CD/DVD listing to show information on your drive If your drive is capable of writing DVD's, the information will say something like DVD-RW. If your drive is NOT capable of writing DVD's, the information will say something like DVD-ROM. HTH!
