Q: Well my 8800GT that I just bought was rated for 500 Watts my power supply is under that....I plugged it in and played Counter Strike Source without a problem, but once I got to more demanding games like Call of Duty 4 and GRID, the card started slowing down in between smooth runs. Is that my power supply's problem? Ever other component is fine I meet all the specs except for the power supply.
A: probably the power supply...see if you under power a video card a little bit it will work fine...until you run something demanding that requires full power...It is possible however if you using high resolutions and high quality settings that the particular sequences are to much for the card to run even if properly powered...Could be either but i play COD4 on an 8800gt with a 600w and i have to say i've never had frames rates trouble me like that and i'm using a 22" monitor at 1680-1050. I'd get a new PSU...Check newegg they carry Rosewill PSUs the Rosewill Stallion line is Both Low priced and reasonably high quality...and their 500w and 600w PSUs go for under $60 dollars
