How do I find the drivers for my motherboard?

Q: Hey! I got this computer second hand, but it didn't come with the drivers for the built in network card and sound card. How can I get these drivers? And how can I find out what kind of motherboard it is so that I can find the correct ones?

A: I went to computerhope.com in the hopes that I found some new resource, but if you go there you'll find they have almost no motherboard drivers. Too bad, as I'm always looking for new sources of computer information on the net. Anyway, how to fix your problem? You have to look at the motherboard for any number(s) that may be on it. Even if you don't know the brand, doing a search for the model number only will probably get you the information you need. If you are not successful, then go to another computer (since your NIC doesn't work) and find and download a program called SANDRA, by a company from the UK called SiSoft. It's a free program which will give you all the information on your computer, including the manufacturer and model of the motherboard. Once you have the brand and model, the rest should be easy. And in the future, if you're looking for drivers, use driverguide.com. They do require a free registration, but they ahve thousands of drivers for all things imaginable (including motherboards) for every operating system. Good Luck.
