Q: My HP Pavilion Elite m9150f Media Center Desktop: http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/03/hp-pavilion-elite-m9150f-pc-handles-hd-dvd-ota-tv/ It has 3 GB of memory installed now in this sequence: 1024-512-1024-512, I want to add 1GB to make it a total of 4GB,so just remove the two 512's and replace them with the new 1024's....or should I remove the 512's and install the existing 1024's side by side, and likewise with the new side by side?In other words:should the new memory be installed next to each other, or can you mix it up in any sequence? Also one question:Can I install previously used memory that was in another computer,or does it have to be brand new?
A: If you look on the motherboard at the RAM slots, if they are alternating colors, match the colors with the paired RAM sticks. If they are all the same color, it won't mater. And the memory doesn't have to be new, it just has to work.
