Confuse about memory clock?

Q: i have an XFX 8800GT 600mhz zalman edition. according to rivatuner, my memory clock is 900mhz, yet sites state it has a 1800mhz memory clock??? all the clocks: core - 600mhz, shader - 1500mhz, memory - 900mhz

A: thats because the memory is DDR which stands for Double Data Rate. 1800MHz is double the actual memory clock. I dont know why they do that, but thats the way it is. The same goes for the FSB which is in QDR Quad Data Rate. So if a computer's FSB is 1600MHz, the actual bus speed is 400MHz
