Q: Is there any ddr3 dual channel ram available? How does dual channel work? Can I just put dual channel ram into my motherboard and it will work or do I have to set up something? And what percentage boost in speed can expect from going dual channel instead of regular?
A: Yes DDR3 is available but it does not run 3 times as fast as DDR but same as DDR2 it only runs twice as fast but it is twice as expensive so my opinion is that it is not worth it DDR3 only produce slightly better performance then most DDR2 RAM and below par performance in comparison to some very low latency DDR2 I think the money is better spent buying a premium DDR2 which is highly overclockable This is also the reason why DDR3 was not mainstream because it fail to produce significant increase in performance compared to DDR2 considering the cost Dual channel will produce higher performance benefits because the frequency the RAM will run at will be doubled in Dual Channel Configuration
