Q: A church gave us a gateway computer for our daughter. The operating system is Windows 98. We were advised that since it has no ethernet port we need to purchase a network card. In my search for one, am finding that many are not compatable with windows 98. Has anyone installed one, and found it to work well with windows 98? Please advise, and thank you in advance.
A: There are plenty.... Netgear, 3Com, Linksys but the problem is you'll need to find an older card, since recently manufactured cards haven't included Windows 98 software drivers for years- it's a discontinued operating system so why pay programmers to write drivers? Ebay has tons of Win98 network cards... here are a couple:
