Q: Someone told me to "filter" the sound by putting a sock over the microphone...no success. I returned the first microphone because I thought it might be bad, but the new one does the same thing?
A: the noise a constant (same) tone? Does the pitch of the sound rise and fall? If it's a constant tone it may be caused be electrical interference. The cord from the Mic to computer, is it running next to the power strip, AC adapters or tangled up with power cords or possibly running along side the power supply within the PC tower? These kinds of microphones usually have poorly sheilded wires and can be subject to electical interference which can manifest as a buzzing or wherring noise. Can you connect the mic to another recording device (tape recorder etc) and try it to see if you get the same results.
