my motherboard has 2 slots for ddr ram and 2 slots for sd ram but the ddr slots wont work?

Q: ive been running using sd ram 1st slot 512mb and 2nd slot 256mb... id like to use the ddr slots instead but if i take out the sd and put in a stick of ddr then the computer wont boot. there isnt any kind of warning beeps from the mobo saying im missing ram so im not sure what is wrong. im also sure the ram sticks are not the problem b/c ive tested them with other computers. thanks in advance the boards manufacturer is ecs and the model is m925

A: Yep - it is rare to see this configuration but it can happen. I actually used to have a board like this, with two sets of slots, about 5 years ago. I think it was Jetway branded. It was during a time when they were hedging their bets! :-) Because you don't name your board, it's difficult to research. If you have a manual, I'll bet you will find there's a jumper to set the bus up properly for using DDR and get it right for the multiplier used. I cannot help you further unless you name the board. I can't quite remember even how I did it on my board! But I can almost guarantee that you only need to understand and make a small adjustment.
