Q: i got this graphics card and started to install it until i relized i dident have pci 2.0 stuffs... noob question... what is pci-e is it something to do with my powersupply or my motherboard thx alot i needed a 8pin pci-e thing it like shows a diagram and it shows the 8 pin things and i have it but it says it has to be square square sheild sheild like shapes and there is a 4 pin one already connected to it it need 2 here is the link http://www.xfxforce.com/en-us/products/graphiccards/9series/9800GX2.aspx
A: PCI express is an update to AGP graphics and regular PCI card slots. They are faster, and access the system bus more directly. PCI-E 2 is an update to the PCI-E interface, is twice as fast, and (I believe) backwards compatible with PCI-E. edit: You can get an 8 pin adapter from any good computer shop. It plugs into a regular 4 pin power plug (like for a cd drive). It costs just a few dollars.
