Q: Alright so I already have a BFG 8800GTS 512MB card and it runs pretty nicely, but I'm going to be upgrading my motherboard soon and I need to make an important choice, do I support Crossfire or SLI? In order to buy another 8800GTS for SLI I'm looking at paying $10 more than a new 4870, which is a killer card. I'm an NVIDIA fan boy, but ATI has really got their act together with these 48xx series cards. I could probably sell my 8800GTS for $150 or $200 if I was lucky, and would therefore get at least half of the 4870 paid for. Would you go with this route? Or two 4850's in xfire? Too many options lol, but the 4870 looks very nice, and it seems odd paying $320 for an 8800GTS 512MB when even in SLI, it probably wouldn't beat the 4870 since it beats the 9800GX2. It seems more economical to get a single 4870 right? I also have an AMD cpu, so it would be nicer on my budget to get a socket AM2 motherboard since they tend to have crossfire and not SLI. Opinions? Suggestions?
A: 2 HD4850 kills the $600 GTX280. I suggest that is what you get. Get an intel chipset motherboard(P35, P45, X38, or X48) to support crossfire. Ati may be making great GPUs but AMD is still far behind. Intel is going to put the hurt on soon with nehalem .
