Q: I have two sticks of 256. I have bought 4 new sticks of 1gb to put into my motherboard, manual says will support. Everyone sz that the memory should all be the same. The 4 new sticks are all same. The 2 old sticks are same except for the fact that the new sticks are a 3 latency and the old sticks are a 2.5 latency. My comp. was built by a friend, another different friend helped install another HD, he looked at my screen & asked if I had overclocked my computer. I didn't know. I asked the other friend if he did, but that was 2 years & 100 computers ago to him, so he does not remember. My question/s are will the computer recognize & accept the new 4 sticks at a latency of 3, even though it is used to 2 sticks at a latency of 2.5? If computer has been overclocked should I get memory that is of 2.5 latency ? How long to see if compatible? mins, hrs, days, weeks, mnths? What to do to see if works, run programs/scans? Any recommendations or considerations, plz advise. Thnk u :-) AMD64 CPU Gigabyte K8 Trition MB Please keep in mind that I am a newbie so, messing around with computer setting is not really my forte'. But I can follow simple thorough instructions.
A: Just replace the old RAM with the new ones. It doesn't matter what was installed previously. Everytime system is switched on, it will look out for new resources. Once it find new piece of hardware, it will automatically install it. Therefore, install and run and don't be afraid . http://techcone.blogspot.com
