Q: When will the price on the gtx 280s go down? When would they go down to about $300? The reason I ask is that the Radeon HD 4870 cards are about $300, and they are an awesome price. I think what I'm going to do now is build a gaming computer with the Radeon HD 4870 card, and then I can wait for about maybe 1-3 years so the price will go down to about $300 for the GTX 280. Then I can run 2 GTX 280s in sli. (my motherboard will only support sli not crossfire. Here's my motherboard "EVGA 132-CK-NF79-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI DDR3 ATX Intel Motherboard")
A: the 280 gtx price cut won't happen for a while since they are no announcements about any new cards yet from nvidia. I would suggest to go with 9800 gtx sli. It will be the same as 280 gtx and better than 4870. But still I think you should go with 4870 for now until it gets outdated which wont be for years and then by then there will definitely be a better and cheaper card than the 280 gtx since these companies are releasing video cards every couple of months.
