Q: i need an external hard drive for my macbook. Mainly for tunes storage, probably want to get a TB straight up to save having to upgrade later but am flexible on this for the right product. Airport compatability is also important as eventually i would like the whole system to be wireless..... Any suggestions on products? I've heard bad things about the time capsule slowing down entire networks... anyone had any experience with it?
A: anything above a 160Gb requires an external power source, where the 160Gb powers off the usb port and is small enough to fit into a pocket in cargo shorts or a back pack, so that is something to consider as far as airport and adapters go. Make sense going "big" straight up but look at the physical dimensions, weight and transport difficulties? I have a preference for Western Digital Drives, I have used them in all my pc's and haven't failed me yet, so that is just a personal choice. Good Shopping.
