Q: I needed a new keyboard but with a usb output to connect it to the computer because the green and purple input on the back of the computer to hook up the mouse and the keyboard is messed up. So i bought a new usb mouse and now i bought a Dell usb keyboard from ebay. The problem is when i connect the keyboard a window pops up and says " New Hardware Wizard" something like that. And it says i need a software for the keyboard. When i recieved my keyboard from ebay it didn't have a cd software it just came to the keyboard and the keyboard is new. I tried to look on the internet for the software but can't find it. When i exit out of the pop up which i tried everything to do fix the keyboard but when i exit out of it the keyboard doesn't work at all. So i wondering if this dell keyboard isn't compatible with my systemax computer. I think every keyboard should work with every computer. I tired everthing. I already asked the owner but doesn't respond. Already did everythingi could.Please Help! well there is there numbers. So maybe that might be the problem but i used to have a dell keyboard with a purple input but it worked well until those purple and green things on the back of the computer is messed up now.
A: I doubt it's a compatibilty issue. I think you just need drivers for the keyboard. I'm guessing that it's a multimedia keyboard with extra shortcut buttons and a volume control. These are usually the only ones that require drivers. If you could tell us the model number for the keyboard, from the sticker on the back, it would be easier to locate the drivers you need.
