Q: Okay I have one and I use it on my laptop, but recently my laptop has broken so I'm trying to use it on the family computer but when I plug it in the light comes on as normal but it makes a few "beep" noises and nothing happens. What could it be? Thanks Yeah I'm plugging it into the front, and the problem with the laptop is that the motherboard crashed
A: Are you plugging it into USB ports on the front of the (desktop?) family computer. If so, try plugging it into a USB port on the back. Sometimes, the front panel USB ports do not supply power (or enough power) for some USB devices. USB hubs also often - especially the small non-powered ones. It's also possible that whatever caused the laptop to fail damaged the external drive as well. Let's start with the first option though. :)
